Beef Shanks

At Meeting Place Organic farm, we feel that beef shanks are a great way to start a homemade soup or stock

These shanks from from the completely certified organic, grass-fed cows at our farm, meaning they contain healthier fats. They are an environmentally friendly alternative to grain-fed beef, as our rotational grazing helps to sequester carbon instead of releasing it. This meat from our pastured animals is GMO-free and doesn't contain use of steroids, antibiotics or hormones.

The shanks are cut from just above the hock of the animal, usually about 2-inch thick, and add a delicious, trademark flavor to any soup or broth. For the best results, we suggest you try braising and simmering them for around three to five hours, in water or stock. This will give you that perfect, fall off the bone texture. We guarantee the wait will be well worth it when you're enjoying a meal rich in flavor and nutrition. If you're short on time and have a pressure cooker that is a handy option as well
